Stanchinsky: Piano Works

傑布隆斯基上一張碟是史克利亞賓，這張Alexey Stanchinsky（1888-1914）專輯也是白銀時代稍具前衛的音樂。Stanchinsky比普羅歌菲夫大三年，卻在26歲英年早逝，死因是游在冰冷的河水時心臟停頓，而做那個傻事的背後又有淒怨的愛情故事。
Stanchinsky的音樂給我最強的印象是半音階主義，個個音都會用到，和弦也很奇怪。格式上他卻沿用傳統、尤其是蕭邦的曲式去框住自己的特殊語言。無疑這不是只聽拉赫曼尼諾夫的朋友所能接受的音樂，但又沒有青年普羅歌菲夫的活力，又不去到史克利亞賓那種狂熱氛圍。
傑布隆斯基的演奏也未能說服到我，我總是覺得他的彈法缺乏焦點，即如絕對的半音階主義中個個音都平等，傑布隆斯基好像不想去用明確的節奏、有意識的造句去給聽者圈出這些音樂的重點。雖然總體上呈現到Stanchinsky的實驗性，但這種實驗性所謂何事我就還未感覺得到。
Jablonski’s previous album was Scriabin, this all-Stanchinsky recital is another exploration of Russian Silver Age music. Alexey Stanchinsky (1888-1914) was three years older than Prokofiev but died at the age of 26. His heart apparently stopped while he was swimming in a cold river. Call him stupid but that was related to a heartbreaking romance.
What struck me most about Stanchinsky is his chromaticism, almost every note of the chromatic scale is equally important and his chords are so “foreign”. But he framed his idiosyncratic tonal language with traditional forms, especially those of Chopin. This isn’t music for Rachmaninov fans but Stanchinsky’s music lacks the vitality of the young Prokofiev, or the ecstasy of Scriabin.
I was unconvinced by Jablonski’s playing. It lacked focus just as the equal status of every note in the chromatic scale. I think he could have marked things out by a stronger sense of rhythm and phrasing. As a whole Jablonski demonstrated how experimental Stanchinsky was but I couldn’t feel what those experiments are for.
